Can someone find data on the number of software engineers in the EU, Japan, India, etc? Or at least point to where such data can be found? Thx.

Where does the 4.4 million software developer in the US number come from?

The citations listed do not seem to contain any support for there being 4.4 million software developers in the US. Instead the BLS indicates there are only 1.6 million software developers in the US. https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes151252.htm
