Tin Lizzy

[edit]

I know this was a nick-name for this car, but it's not supported by either of two citations here --

The Ford Model T (colloquially known as the "tin Lizzie," "leaping Lena," "jitney" or "flivver") is an automobile that was produced by Ford Motor Company from October 1, 1908, to May 26, 1927.[10][11]

I added two refs. for these. I don't think they're particularly high quality but they're better than what was there previously (nothing). I couldn't source any reference to the Model T being called a "jitney" - where I am from jitney is synonymous with an illegal taxi. Valgrus Thunderaxe (talk) 06:51, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Portland Oregon assembly plant

[edit]

https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2018/12/13/the-houses-that-t-built-and-that-built-the-t-tracking-down-the-assembly-plants-of-fords-first-distributed-production-effort

I can add this, but should this section be alphabetized? Fotoguzzi (talk) 07:56, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is this covered by List of Ford factories? Might be good as a reference there.  Stepho  talk  09:28, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Having a problem understanding your question. This link mentions four or five early remote assembly buildings, the one in Portland still stands.Fotoguzzi (talk) 14:37, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that your reference is more to do with Ford factories rather than the Model T. So it might be better to use it at List of Ford factories, which also includes defunct factories.  Stepho  talk  21:37, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help required to correct four WP pages using 'jitney'

There is a discussion taking place on Talk:Jitney, and you might be able to help. Masato.harada (talk) 16:15, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Early advertisements

[edit]

While the car was not released until the fall of 1908, it was being advertised at least as early as January 1908, as this advertisement shows (the T is in the center of the ad, identified in the caption.) Might it be worthwhile to include some mention of that? -- Nat Gertler (talk) 23:00, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds reasonable to me to put that pre-marketing into the Ford Model T#Advertising and marketing section. Take care to not mention seasons because that confuses the crap out of us Southern Hemisphere readers, as per WP:SEASON.  Stepho  talk  23:31, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and added a line, sourcing it to two Jan 1908 ads. Utterly unseasoned. Usually, I'd recommend that you move to the US so that all the seasons align with those on popular TV shows, but I'm not recommending anyone move her at this particular moment. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 23:46, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I moved it to the advertising section. All good!
I've tried living in the north half but I do like Christmas around the swimming pool. :)  Stepho  talk  02:37, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
